27 - Molly the Helper

Image
Molly loves to help and stay right by my side whenever I do anything.  I had to put a gate by the garage so she could watch me assemble a lacrosse net.  Needless to say, she would have preferred to lay on the net while I was assembling it...

26 - Molly's Bath

Image
Molly got her first bath at our house and she was a really good girl!

25 - Molly Hikes

Image
For the 1st time ever, Molly got a chance to go hiking in a forest.  She also enjoyed all the rest of the crew playing disc-golf with her cheering everyone on.  Needless to say it was a fantastic day for Molly and she loved every minute of it.  She was a fantastic companion to have along.  As most greyhounds, she just went with the flow and checked out her surroundings quietly.

24 - Molly Days

Image
Molly is not liking her cage at all.  She's escaped twice from two different ones already so we are taking extra time with training and securing her space.  She'd rather be lounging on her bed.  She's too smart for her own good!

23 - Molly the Lounge Dog

Image
Spoiled.  That's all there is to it.

22 - Molly the Snow Dog

Image
Molly is questioning our sanity for taking her out in this weather.  She doesn't like snow and she doesn't like her coat.  (But guess what girl, you'll have to get used to both...) 😊

21 - Molly Training

Image
Took Molly for a great walk/run today.  Justin is training for his school track team and what better companion than a Greyhound for running some laps!

20 - Molly the Companion

Image
If you are considering a Greyhound, beware they will be by your side 24/7.  You move, they move.  You change rooms, they change rooms.  You get up, they get up.  You lay down, they lay down.  Molly, will find space next to us no matter how she has to fit into wherever it is she tries to lay down...

19 - Molly Finds a New Home

Image
Well, it's official.  Molly has found her forever home!  And it happens to be our house!  Welcome Molly to our family!  You stole our heart the minute you stepped through our door!  A special thank you goes out to Gail from Greyhound Pet Adoptions of Delaware.  She is an amazing person and advocate for this special breed!  Looking forward to all the events and greyhound adventures!  Molly will be a great ambassador for the greyhound family!

18 - Molly Thoughts

Image
Molly thinks it's too cold and windy to go outside.  Better stay by the bed snug in a blanket...

17 - Molly Walks

Image
Molly is really enjoying her walks.  She loves the pond and related ducks, geese, and birds...

16 - Molly Days

Image
Molly has been slowly opening up to us each day a bit more.  Yesterday, unprompted, she sat down with the kids on the floor and laid her head on Suzanne's leg.  She did this about three times.  She's still does not like to be disturbed when she is sleeping so we've learned to leave her be.  We also found a bone she likes to chew finally as other ones we got her were not a big hit.  Although she loves all food, not everything agrees with her stomach.  Its been a bit of a struggle to find the right food for her but Purina Pro Plan Sport (suggested by Gail from GPAD) seems to be the right choice.  We noticed an immediate improvement.  I can't say it works well for every greyhound off the track, but for Molly, it certainly has.  Oh, and she chewed through two cords so far that were plugged in to the wall (thus our quest to find her chew bones).  But, with a face like this how can you stay mad?

15 - Molly Playtime

Image
Molly found her favorite toy today!  A practice lacrosse ball!  Good thing we have 500 of these in the house...

14 - Molly The Chef

Image
We don't remember asking for a constant helper in the kitchen while we are cooking...

13 - Molly Settling In

Image
Molly is settling in to daily life with lots of new things to get used to.  She's still not sure of loud/unexpected sounds and actions.  We are also working with the kids so they don't disturb her during sleep (as she is not used to this).  Last night Molly did her first roach impression in the middle of the night (this was the first time at our house) and this morning played with toys for the first time as well (along with the zoom zooms) which were all good signs she is starting to acclimate to home life.  She's done very well on walks so far and has met multiple dogs with no issues.  She's also become our work companion as she tends to be very close to us during the day as we go about our business.  Waiting for that sunshine and dry weather so we can get out some more and explore!

12 - Molly The Snow Dog

Image
Molly did a fantastic job with her first overnight with us.  This was the first night she's ever spent without another dog in the house/kennel and she was a sweet little angel.  She's been very quick to settle into a routine and is very intelligent, listens to commands.  We are not sure how much snow she's seen in her life, but she doesn't seem to make sense of it just yet and gets spooked by odd sounds (like melting snow falling from trees).  Gotta keep a tight grip on that leash as she is super quick when she wants to go!  It's all just a learning experience for her and we are glad we have the chance to show her new things...

11 - Molly Hello

Image
Well Hello Molly! We welcome Molly into our home as our new foster!  She's a pretty girl (a bit smaller than Precious) who was a AA racer down in Texas and West Virginia.  She has a very sweet personality and was really calm meeting the kids as she checked out our house.  She will be 4 soon and she is fresh off the track, learning the ways of retired life.  She'll be with us until she finds her forever home.  We'll be teaching her all kinds of skills she's never been exposed to before.  She's already checked out the entire house, found some things she is not allowed to have, did fantastic on the stairs, used the bathroom outside, and finally crashed on her nice soft bed.  Check back here for her adventures with our family and updates on how she's getting acclimated.  Take a look at Greyhound Pet Adoptions of Delaware for adoption info!

10 - Precious Goodbye

Image
We said goodbye to Precious yesterday as she traveled to her new home.  We put her elephant toy in her bag as that was her favorite while she stayed with us.  I can't express enough how amazing she is and how lucky we were to have her.  Although all of us miss her already, we know she will be happy and well loved in her new forever home!  Thanks GPA Delaware (especially Gail) for making us part of the greyhound family!

9 - Precious Radar

Image
When we go on walks with Precious, it is full radar alert time.  The ears go up, face forward, and the sight tracking begins.  There is not one sound she doesn't respond to.  She has exceptional hearing.  Not a big fan of trash trucks and school buses.  However, she's done really well with other dogs.  Interested, but non aggressive.  She's a good girl...

8 - Precious Things

Image
I don't think doggie beds are supposed to work this way...

7 - Precious Life

Image
How can you resist this face?

6 - Precious The Lounge Dog

Image
The various poses in which Precious lays during the day as she is enjoying her nap time is pretty amazing.  Half of it doesn't look comfortable but she seems to be uber relaxed.  She's settled into a great routine and she is an exceptional companion to work next to.  She will immediately get up if she loses line of sight of her humans, but as soon as she confirms that she has not been abandoned for the rest of her life (and we only went a few steps away from her) she lays right back down 😊.

5 - Precious At Home

Image
We are still working on getting used to staying in the crate.  Precious is not a big fan but seems to settle down after a while.  She prefers being next to us at all times, or on her comfy bed surrounded by toys.  The number of odd positions she'll lay in on her bed is really comedic.  We get a kick out of her various poses as she sleeps.  :)

4 - Precious Out and About

Image
Our foster girl Precious loves her walks.  She has exceptional hearing so every little sound is a pause and must see.  The last few walks she has not pulled at all and walked along-side of us like a perfect little angel.  Even if she starts out with pulling she'll settle down into a nice walk after a little while.  She's interacted with neighborhood kids really well, excited to meet them but never jumping on anyone.  Walking with her is a real pleasure!

3 - Precious Settles In

Image
So what's Precious been like?  Well, in one word "sweet."  She has a great, calm personality but also LOVES playing with her toys!  She's done well going potty outside but it will take time for her to get used to her surroundings.  She also listened when we've redirected her from counters and getting into things she should not have, but she loves to explore and you do have to keep an eye on her for now.  She did a great job during her walk with all of us in the neighborhood and although she pulls at first, she did settle down and walk nicely by our side for the duration.  She's super interested in small animals, so having a firm grip on that leash is a must!

2 - Precious Checks Out Her Surroundings

Image
Precious spent her first day with our family exploring her surroundings (very curious) and getting to know the kids.  She's been fantastic with our 14, 11, and 3 year old children who know when to give her space.  She did very well the first night and immediately got comfortable on her new bed in the room.  She'll lay in all kinds of positions that may look odd to us but were comfortable for her.  We've had her in the crate off and on, not only for her feedings (she loves food), but also to get her used to spending time in there.  She goes in fine, whines for a while to make it known she'd prefer to be out with us, then eventually settles down.  She's also been fantastic about us handling her with getting the leash on and off, putting her coat on her for the chilly walks, and petting her all over.

1 - Precious R Few - Welcome Pretty Girl!

Image
We welcome Precious R Few into our foster family!  She is a four year old retired racer who currently is available through  Greyhound Pet Adoptions of Delaware .
